Fabric finds

It is funny how sometimes you seem to find treasures in 'themes' as Kristy said in her blog about her gorgeous button find. This week has been a huge fabric finding week for me. I haven't posted all the photos as it went on and on. I found a huge pile of vintage linen, some vintage Sanderson fabrics, some velvet ribbon, some rick rack braid and these beauties:

Some beautiful Edinburgh Weavers chintz

A pile of retro cottons

Some retro kids fabric

Some adorable 1950's kittens curtains

A Boden girls skirt that I have decided to wear as a strapless smock top

An original 1960's smock top that is sooooo Orla Kiely and proves that there is nothing new under the sun!

A Ralph Lauren cowboy shirt that I am undecided whether to cut or keep (answers on a postcard please)

A bag of vintage cottons in the most gorgeous colours (and all for 50p)

Some old Bondaweb. Just look at that crafty chick on the front!

A pile of old wool and silk crepe sample pieces that a lady ran out of the shop to thrust into my hand. 'These are for you', she said, 'I have had them for ages and knew just the person who would like them, here you can have them'. How sweet was that?

And finally, I know they aren't fabrics but I just had to show you, a selection of unused 1950's colouring and magic painting books. The dog one is especially cute as he comes with his own paintbrush held between his teeth!

Wow - very impressive, I love the skirt for a top idea. As for your button collection I am green with envy! I live in London and find it so hard to get good vintage fabric etc at a half decent price - from reading your blog I gather you used to live in london - do you have any recommendations - boot sales / charity shops etc ?

Wow Donna- I especially love the nursery print fabrics that you managed to find. I have a small scrap of the 'pussy willow' fabric too- I thought about framing some of it....Niki.x

What a fantastic score! They are all wonderful, especially the cute kiddie print. The boden skirt as a top is such a good idea too! By the way, I received the buttons today and I am SO pleased - thank you so much they are perfect and I can't wait to use them! PS. I would cut up the cowboy shirt - just think of all the fab boyish things that it could transform into :)

Oooh Dons, I forgot you had this blog going too! hahaha

I just love all of your fantastic finds. I knew you had taken photos of them but was waiting for them to appear on your "normal" blog - silly me :o}

To cut up or to keep whole? Hmmm, can't decide. It's a Ralph Lauren cowboy shirt. How many of those are you likely to come across again? Maybe you should keep it as it is? Although, yes, you could have so much fun with pieces of it. I'm torn in two (no pun intended!)

Gotta go, BB on in a mo - sorry I've been so useless with helping you to decide xxxx
